Discovering Dublin...Day 1

How excited am I to be writing my second post??? BEYOND ECSTATIC!

Ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration but I am definitely excited because I have pictures to share of my two day adventure in Dublin, Ireland. Dublin is a beautiful city and the people are extremely friendly. They are always willing to help you out and start up a random conversation. Within the first couple hours of being in City Centre a man was telling us his life story of how he used to be a dancer and travelled all over the world. It's true when they say that the people make the country.

(Traveller's tip: If you are a student, ANY student [undergrad, graduate, etc.] and you show your I.D., you get a significant discount on most entrance fees. Also, all national museums are FREE!)

Day 1 in Dublin mostly consisted of walking around, getting to know the city and visiting cathedrals. We visited Trinity College and saw the book of Kells as well as their AMAZING library. Unfortunately no photographs were allowed inside. We also went to Dublin Castle with a cute little church inside. The two fantastic cathedrals we went to were Christ Church and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Christ Church had a crypt underground and students from Trinity were performing an act from Hamlet for the Shakespeare Festival while St. Patrick's Church had an angelic boys choir practicing in the background. But my absolute favorite thing about all of the cathedrals were the stain glass windows HANDS DOWN. I took a million pictures, probably of every window in each cathedral. Although they are religious establishments, you could also feel the history that resonated from the walls. What it took to build these magnificent structures, the church's immense social and political influence, the people who died for the church; so many things culminated into each individual cathedral. I came out having a renewed sense of appreciation in the power of faith. No matter what your religious preference may be, there is no doubt that the power of faith enables man to do amazing things. Some acts may be amazingly beautiful like the stain glass creations while others amazingly horrible like mass killings, but no doubt amazing nonetheless. Here are just a FEW pictures I took throughout the day...
